I am currently planning my wedding and am undecided on exactly what I want.
I have found a ceremony site, however, it is at least an hour out of the way for our guests. I feel bad about having the ceremony there and then asking them to drive another hour in the opposite direction for the dance (I'm not sure that we wanted a sit down dinner or just cocktails with hors d'oeuvres).
So, would it be advisable to have our ceremony one day with the dance the following evening or is that just plain silly?

Dear Guitargurl,
That wouldn't be polite to your guests as they would have to make plans two days in a row for your wedding. It really isn't fair for them to drive that far either.
It is best to serve the meal that guests would be expecting at that time of day. So, plan well.
We have many, many posts about all of this. Please peruse them. It may help. And, please remember that all of your wedding guests are invited to the entire reception.

Dear Guitargirl, I totally agree with Rebecca and feel that your options are: #1. Find a ceremony site closer to the reception site or #2. find a reception site closer to the ceremony site. Your guests will thank you for being considerate. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com
