     Who cuts the wedding cake?

After the bride and groom cut their piece of cake, who usually cuts the rest of the cake. I am the mother of the groom and I was asked to cut the cake, I don't think I have ever seen this before.

Normally the caterer cuts the balance of the cake. In the absence of a caterer, it can be cut by anyone the couple asks to do it.
