Who should pay for the alcoholic beverages for the reception?
My son is getting married. His future wife plans on having 250+ people from her family attending the wedding. He is only inviting about 40 people. I do not feel it is fair for me to foot the bill for 250+ people's drinks when there will only be 40 or so from our side of the family attending. What is the correct way to handle this?

Dear Joedella,
If she wants that many guests, she can have them. But, she and your son would be paying for them. Neither parent is obligated to pay for any wedding cost these days.

If you agreed to foot the bill for the drinks then you buy for eveyone. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
