What would be the proper way to pay someone who will not accept payment for planning a wedding reception. He has everything under control down to the last detail leaving us to tend to other wedding plans. This gentleman is a friend of both of us and does not want to be reimbursed for his services (doing it as our wedding gift) but we do want to do something special for him. Any suggestions? My fiance wondered about buying him a collectable coin of substantial value....

It is very nice of you to want to thank your friend. Whenever you want to give a gift, always consider their personality, realtionship to you and their hobbies. Select a gift, within your budget, that will best symbolize your feelings for your friend. If he collects coins then your fiance is on the right track however, the gift does not have to be expensive. Just give from the heart and you can't go wrong. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

Would a cash gift be too tacky? The planner does not want anything but as I said before, he is taking care of so much for us. Guess I need to find out if he collects anything and then give something in this line. Thank you for all your help!

Your friend has already said he does not want to be paid so I wouldn't give a cash gift. In fact, in most cases I wouldn't give a cash gift. A great gift is something that the recipient would love to have but would never buy for himself.
