new year's eve reception - keeping guests from drinking and driving
My daughter wants a New Year's Eve reception but her soon to be groom is dragging his feet. He doesn't want to have to tell those who are coming, if they are going to have drinks and party with them to bring in the new year, they need to get a hotel room. How do we go about putting this on the invitations, so everyone knows that we don't want them to drink and drive?

Dear Vkimball,
This isn't listed on the invitation. And, we shouldn't state this outright anyway. But, it could be implied by including a list of hotels on an enclosure with the invitations. They could even state this on their wedding website.
They may not have many guests attend if the reception is held on New Years. Guests may have their own plans or may not want to secure a hotel room, especially those who live near by.

This cannot go on the invitation. You can add an enclosure that offers hotel room rates and reservation numbers. You can include the numbers for taxi companies. Or you can provide transportation back to their hotel room. I can also tell you that you'll pay a premium for your vendors for New Year's Eve. I had one band that not only wanted to a premium price but also wanted to be fed the same meal the guests were having and insisted on each band member bringing a guest. Photographers will also tack on a higher price because it's New Year's Eve. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com
