one last reception question about no dancing or dj!

I have posted before when I didn't have my specific reception details and you helped guide my decisions. Thank you! I have decided on a 1 pm cermony then hor d'oeuvres reception with background music being provided by a solo guitarist. We are not having alcohol, which I assume will not be that weird considering the time of day. We are expecting around 130 guests (friends from college and family mostly). I am just wondering how weird it will be to not have a first dance (fiance is very shy). Also, will the guitar player just keep playing when we cut the cake and do the garter/bouquet toss? (I know normally brides pick certain songs to be played during these times). I just want to ensure the wedding is very nice/classy/elegant and not too lame. Thanks

You do not have to have the first dance if you won't to. It will not be weird.

As for the cake cutting cutting and tosses many brides do change songs for these festivities. For instance, one song would be for the cake cutting, another song for the bouquet toss and yet another for the garter toss.

Changing the songs helps guests to get ready for the event (cake cutting, garter toss, etc.) and isn't considered lame at all. So if you are okay with it, and your guitarist can easily transition to play the different songs, it will all flow well.
