order of events for small ceremony/large reception

We're having a small family-only ceremony followed by a large reception the same day. This will be a relatively informal reception - no head table (there's no bridal party), no sit-down meal (hors d'oeuvres only). I expect most of the guests will be there when we arrive, already eating and having cocktails, hopefully chatting and mingling. I want to have our first dance about a half an hour after we arrive to give us some time to mingle and also for 1 or 2 toasts. My question:

How should we be introduced and what do we do when we walk in? All I can picture is us walking through the doors, everyone standing (maybe clapping) and us just standing there in the middle of the floor.Blush Where do we go from there? HELP! Any ideas to make this less awkward?

Please help me plan the first hour of my reception!

Typically your wedding dj or band would announce your entrance. If you do not have a music provider perhaps the banquet manager or someone from the venue could announce you.

I don't have a problem finding someone to introduce us - my issue is what do we do immediately after we are introduced since we don't have a head table to make our way to?

You could go right into your first dances from there. If you have a DJ or band, ask them to orchestrate this for you. They usually do.

Ok, thanks - that's not a bad idea. Can you give me an idea of the order of events then for the first hour or so until the dance begins?

Maybe -
Introduction of Bride & Groom
First Dance
Toasts
Mingling
Dance bride/father & groom/mother
Dance for all married couples
First fast dance
Party begins!

Maybe -
Introduction of Bride & Groom
First Dance
Toasts & Blessing, Dinner
Mingling
Dance bride/father & groom/mother
Dance for all married couples
First fast dance
Party begins!

Cake Cutting

Bouquet and Garter toss

Bride and groom departure

This is how most weddings go. Your musician/dj, photographer and caterer will need to know your order of events.
