seating chart "tableau" for banquet style dinner

Thanks for your help so far with all the questions!

As my wedding date approaches, I realize there are more and more detailed questions that I need help with.

We are having one long table (banquet style) for a full sit down dinner at our wedding with about 100 guests. Each seat will have a place card (obviously). We have been advised to also use a tableau to avoid road-block while guests get to their seats.

How would this work? Is the long table separated into numerical section? Then, on the tableau guests' names are listed a) alphabetically by last name with corresponding table section, or b) by section, and they just have to look at the chart and figure out where they are?

Thanks.

Yes, that is how it would work. The table would be divided into sections with alphabetized guest last names on the chart with the table number assigned and the master chart placed at the entrance to the reception area.

Cheers!
