     wedding reception seating arrangements

Who should be sitting at the head table with the bride and groom during the reception? Where I come from we have the principal sponsors, who are like the primary witnesses, I guess. My fiance is from here and wants the bridesmaids and groomsmen to sit at the head table with us. I suggested that we sit alone, just the bride and groom. He says that would be quite lonely. Lonely with the bride?? I dont know what to say. We're getting married here in the US, on the East coast.

Thanks.

Tradiitional seating at the reception would have either the Bride and Groom alone (this is called a sweetheart table) or the Bride, Groom and their wedding attendants. In both instances, the parents, family and/or guests of the wedding attendants would be seated at tables in close proximity of the sweetheart table.

In this case, taking into account both what you and he want, and since those desires conflict, it would be best to have a sweet heart table with just the two of you.

Cheers!
