I am trying to plan a 1920's theme reception and wedding. I am having a hard time finding any great idea's for the reception. I plan on making it more of a "Guy's and Doll's" sort of reception, but having extreme trouble finding anything to help with the planning. Please help.

A 1920's theme? What fun! Here are a few ideas:
1. Choose themed entertainment: a good jazz trio for the cocktail reception could play all 20's era tunes - or a small combo with a great vocalist for the reception. Good live groups can really get a reception jumping.
2. Include the theme in your invitation - choose antique-ish fonts, paper with a motif from that era, etc.
3. Choose some specialty cocktails for the cocktail hour and give them 20's names instead of their run-of-the-mill names.
4. Instead of tables 1, 2, 3 and 4, you could name your tables in accordance with your theme ("Bootleggers", "Flappers", "The Charleston", etc.)
5. If you use menu cards, choose era-related titles for the different food items.
6. It's not subtle, but consider renting a craps table with dealers. We're seeing more of the casino tables at receptions these days (seriously!) - you could even put the bride and groom's name on dice or their photo on paper...but it's understand it would be for fun - not an edge of sophistication.
7. Substitute the popular modern-looking lounge furniture for more antique-looking pieces with rich upholstery, and heavy coffee tables in place of tall cocktail tables.
I hope that gives you a place to start. Have fun with the theme, and always remember that it's a wedding (don't go TOO far). Shayna Walker, Williamsburg Wedding Design

Great ideas Shayna, I want to add to not forget to use top hats and tails for the guys, boas for the girls (at least for one dance). Use table names from the actors/characters in Guys and Dolls. Love it! Great ideas.
But, even though gambling appears to be a trend for receptions, it is important to note that some find the idea of gambling or even the mention of it, especially at a reception, a big negative--a turn off.
Of course, you know your guests. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Don't forget the "Cloche Hat", the close fitting cap that was often decorated with beads and feathers or Tea Hats, stylishly decorated affections. Many weddings of the era incorporated the Cloche Hat by attaching the veil to the hat.
Long pearl necklaces could be included as party favors, as well as headbands and feathers. An assortment of peacock feathers wrapped in fake pearl necklaces could be your table centerpiece.
There are several party theme companies that supply "Roaring 20's" type of decorations and accessories.
