     Black and White Wedding Theme

When I was younger, I had always liked the idea of a B&W wedding. I am getting married on May 28, 2006 and although I still like this idea, I'm not sure if it would be appropriote for a Spring Wedding.

Could you please tell me what a B&W wedding is exactly? The Bride wears white and the rest of the wedding party wears black. I have seen a B&W cake in a magazine, B&W invitations, and cute little top-hat favor boxes. BUT, what about the flowers? Would the guests also be asked to wear B&W? We are planning an outside wedding at 5:30 pm in a garden/gazebo setting. The reception will go from 6 until 11pm.

I know that a B&W wedding would be very elegant, however at the same time, May is a colorful month when the grass becomes green again and the flowers begin to bloom. I am now leaning towards having a "bright" wedding using a variety of colors (pinks, purples, and yellows).

Any suggestions that could be given would be most appreciated. Thanks... Smile

ShockedSmileUnimpressedI think all the questions you asked are appropriate and you need to consider them with relation to your venue. To be honest I also have some doubts about an outdoor spring wedding in a black and white theme. I have done some weddings in that style in indoor ballroom settings..very elegant and formal. If you do this outside you may want to consider really fancy touches like chaircovers and white lights....You will have to be careful to pull it off in a classy way... it could be tricky...For flowers there is little to worry about but do not get too fussy. Consider lilies, tulips, gardenias and roses and be sure to stay away from the english garden style flower mixtures....
Personally I would vote for the colorful spring theme...that is unless you can really pull the black and white together flawlessly. A challenge to rise to or abandon. ( how about a black and white rehersal dinner?) Luck and best wishes....
