I have a son getting married 9-1. We have rented a 100 plus acre farm, that has a barn for the reception. The ceremony will take place by a creek next to a wooded area. It's a 6:30 ceremony, lasting only 20 minutes. It has a iron arbor, decorated with toole. The guests will sit on hay bales, covered with white satin cloths. The bride is wearing a simple strapless ivory satin gown, the groom is wearing a rented suit. She'll carry ivory and red roses. They will have no attendants. My question is about centerpieces for the reception tables. They will be round, approx. 12 tables in all. The reception site will not allow china or crystal. We have clear cups and white cups, and of course paper plates. Should we use plastic silverware or can we use stainless? Can we use paper napkins or do we need to use cloth? What about tablecloths, paper or cloth? We like to decorate the center of the tables with toole, glass blocks, 9-11 votive candles, and on top of the glass blocks, float rose pedals in water. If we use plastic tablecloths, will that look hokey? Do you have any ideas on centerpieces?
I so appreciate any advise you can give me. I have been looking at this site for the past two hours. Its fantastic!!
Hi I think renting cloth tablecloths and silverwear will be well worth it. Other than that there is really nice disposable dinnerwear and pretty paper napkins that will get the rest of the job done just fine. Have fun...sounds like it!!! Since it will be in the fall, consider flower centerpieces using chrysanthemum with roses, or other fall flowers.
Clay pottery vases in "farm" shapes would be interesting (i.e. boots, roosters, etc.) They could also then be used later at the couple's home.
You might consider "old milk cans" for part of your decorating in the corner areas, and entrance.
Depending on type of barn being rented, be sure the owner "deodorizes" BEFORE the event Copen Cabana DJ and Custom Wedding Photo Book Services http://www.knowareland.com
