     Halloween reception after destination wedding

My fiance and I were originally planning to have a costume wedding on the weekend before Halloween. We then decided to go to Jamaica to be married, and the date is set for the 31st. None of our family or friends are going with us. We are planning to have a small informal reception at our home about 2 weeks after we get back during the second week in November. Since the ceremony is taking place on Halloween, we've been considering still making it a costume reception. However, I had concerns that it may seem strange to our guests to be dressing up in Halloween costumes a few weeks after Halloween was over. Should I stick with the Halloween idea or just do a regular reception?

Since it will be past Halloween, and your theme was in line with the holiday, I think it will be somewhat awkward to have the guests dress in costumes after the fact. I recommend going with a regular reception.

I agree with Rhonda. It's possible that some guests may dress up and some may not. This might make them all feel uncomfortable and self-conscious.

Perhaps save the idea for a future anniversary party.

I completely agree. As good hosts we would never want to do anything that could make our guests feel uncomfortable.
