My wedding is in August 2008. It will take place in a beautiful rocky mountain town. I have a color scheme in mind and i cant seem to choose just one color for my bridesmaids, so my idea is to dress 5 girls each in a different color. The colors are as follows; Indigo/Purple, Midnight Blue, Royal Blue, Teal Green and Dark Green, and I would dress the flower girl in light Purple. What do you think of this. Can these colors come together? How can I incorperate these colors into the wedding overall(tables, flowers, Decorations) The reception Room is fairly plain, no windows and oversized. Any ideas are greatly appreciated Thank you

I think when choosing your flowers and other decor you should consider one of 3 options. All are based on complimentary color combinations. First choice would be to go accross the color wheel and into the orange, coral, soft yellow and gold tones. This would give you the most dramatic effect. The Second choice would be to work on one side of your blue spectrum, and fade the colors down so they will show up against the gowns. This would mean soft blue, lavender and fuchsia. This is a more soft and subtle effect. In both of these cases I would recommend some accents of green and perhaps a few touches of the opposite color blend...What that means is that if you choose the blue lavender fuchsia mix for your main pallete, you would add a little bit of yellow or orange. That can be as simple as a purple filler flower with a yellow center. If you choose orange and yellow flowers add a touch of blue or purple. To spark it all up consider a little lime green here and there for sparkle and a summertime color level. The third idea would be to go with roses or a single flower in 5 different shades of orange to yellow. It could be very cool but would have to be handled carefully to pull it off well. Off the cuff I would say look for cobalt blue vases with yellow sunflowers, orange roses, Coral alstromerias and use a few deep blue delphinium, lime ladies mantle and lavender butterfly asters as fillers. The really bright tones will spark up a big empty area a lot better than the softer colors mentioned. On my website take a look at bouquet #7 and centerpiece #17 for the gist of this concept. With the no window deal a lot of votive candles are a huge help. Another classy and effective but simple way to add to the room would be to use colored napkins or table linens. Sage green or periwinkle would work well. If that is a no go you can just tie a nice blue or purple toned ribbon around the napkins. I think with a little careful thought and creativity you can pull off something spectacular. Hope this gets you thinking and good luck!!!!!
