Ideas for coordinating colors for a summer wedding
For my summer wedding, I am intrigued with the idea of using a platinum or smoke gray, combined with bright orange and accents of navy and perhaps pink. However, I am sure my dress will be cream or ivory and wonder if cream works well as another color in the scheme.
My original idea with my ivory dress was cognac, lemongrass green and perhaps some brown. Any suggestions?

Grey & platinum combined with orange and ivory sounds great; however navy could be a bit overpowering. Cognac and lemongrass green sounds fine with brown, however, butter yellow would work better and create a more sophisticated image. Whichever combination of colors you chose, enjoy your wedding! Wow! I like the butter yellow but was not sure how to use it.
To clarify, did you mean yellow is better than brown in conjunction with cognac and lemongrass? This actually sounds perfect, the best idea yet (and more summery)! Thanks so much.

Amazingly, you have answered your own question: yes, butter yellow will be better than brown precisely because "it is more summery". Just imagine how this entire color combination will look in photos! Enjoy!
