     Not so pretty chairs

Hello,

The chairs that will be provided by the reception hall are not very glamorous. I cannot bring in my own rented chairs, I have to use the ones provided. They are simple "stackable" style plastic chairs. They are also blue, which would not match my colors of chocolate brown and champagne.I know that I could rent chair covers, but these seem costly. Are there any other options to this? Any simple solutions?

Stand your ground regarding your request. Have you been able to speak with the upper management of this facility or owner? Perhaps by careful negotiating you will be able to convince them to allow you to bring in rented chairs. I could understand if your request would affect their bottom line, but it seems strange that they are not amenable to your request.

If you have already paid your deposit and all arrangements have been made and you don't wish to change the location, then perhaps you are stuck at this point using the facility.

Consider speaking with your contact again and if they say no again, ask to speak with someone higher in authority, assuring the person that you understand that he/she is not in the positiion to change the rules, but that you would appreciate speaking to the manager to express your concerns. Keep going up the ladder until you have satisfaction.

If all else fails, let them know that goodwill is worth a lot, and you will be sure to let each of your guests and other friends know that you will never use their facility again and the reason why. Most facilities are amenable to a few changes in rules, and few would like their clients to have a bad experience and tell all their friends about how difficult the management ws to deal with or how unflexible they are.

Smile Hi...I can sympathize with you for sure. But there is something to be said in choosing your battles. Make your concerns known as best you can but if you hit a wall...Get up and try to let the issue go. When folks are actually seated in them they show a lot less. Be sure to keep your planning fun and productive. The chairs won't ruin your wedding but a stressed out relationship with the reception people can bring in clouds.

Where I work they use those chairs a lot and though I hate them they are actually pretty comfortable and easy for the service people to work with. I've never ever heard a complaint from guests...Just brides.

Read the serenity prayer and take it to heart. Love and a beautiful wedding and marriage!!!! Wink
