     Picnic themed reception...

I've thought of checkered table cloths and picnic baskets for the cutlery, what else can I use to make an indoor reception more like a picnic?

You could use potted plants on the tables instead of floral arrangements. Try burlap napkins, and tableloths as an option to the checkered ones. I know that doesn't sound lovely but the fabric is quite nice, not too scratchy. Another idea is to use mini-candle lanterns, or add some type of wicker elements to the tables and/or chairs.
