Red roses and purple wedding decorations

I absolutely love deep red roses. The only problem is that I would like to also incorporate a shade of purple (ie bridesmaids' dresses). The only thing that would be red is the flowers, and red roses are not going to be the only flower. I wasn't sure what shade of purple would not clash with the red roses. I like the color eggplant but I cannot decide if it goes with the red roses. I don't want it to turn out like the red and purple hat ladies.

Thank you!

Where will you be using these colors? Dresses, decorations, etc?

My dress is champagne and ivory. I was thinking of having the brides maids dresses a shade of purple, and maybe mixed in with the roses (but probably not). I would also use ivory for ribbons and such. Deep red would be the roses for my bouquet and for the center pieces.

Without the benefit of seeing your wedding site's decor, or knowing exactly what hue of purple you may actually select, I recommend that get a swatch of the bridesmaids dresses you have in mind. Hop on over to your local florist with your swatch to see how it looks against a bunch of real red roses and gain a focal point of reference. Also, consider how this color scheme will look against the decor in the place where your wedding and reception are going to take place.

Cheers!
