Using tea lights inside votive candle holders

We want to use red votive candle holders with white candles for the glow of the red. Can you burn tea-lights inside regular votive holders? Our flame needs to be below the top of the holder, so we're thinking about long burning tea lights. thanks for your help!

Steph -

I can't think of any reason this will not work but do think about how long the tea lights will burn so they last the entire reception. Also ask the banquet manager or manager of the venue if you are allowed to use these candles.

Sometimes you have to watch with tealights because the metal gets hot and depending on the thickness of the glass votive, it may crack it.
