My wedding is coming up quickly in September. My fiance and I are having the event at a historic garden/home and we will have a tent outside for the dinner. It will be a semi-formal luncheon event, with old fashioned, vintage theme and "dress up" qualities to it (women were encouraged to wear hats!). Our colors are burgundy and dusty pink and our tables will be identified by our favorite authors as "host". Do you have any inexpensive ideas for simple decorations that would make the tent less utilitarian looking but still fit our theme? I have considered hanging paper lanterns, but they don't really go with our style or theme.

Purchase colored netting to fit your theme and drape from the top edge of the tent in flowing loops, like a scalloped edge. At the top of each loop use large colorful straw hats with matching ribbons around the brim to add accent touches. The colorful ribbons, matched to your colors, will flit in the breeze and give a wonderful look to the event. If you want, you could also add clusters of silk flowers in the brim to match your bouquet.
