My niece is getting married August 24 (next Sunday) at a private outdoor area. The reception immediately follows the ceremony at a rented public pavilion at a park a short walk away. The problem is that is has been rented immediately preceding her reception - very little time to move tables, decorate and set up the grill/buffet. THe previous renters have it from 12-5pm; her ceremony is at 5:30pm and will only take about 30-45 minutes. They are paying for this wedding on a shoestring budget. Both of her parents were killed when she was young. Unfortunately, I was asked to help after invitations were sent out and the reception area had already been booked. How can we delay the guests after the ceremony to buy a little more time to set up. By the way, the ceremony site has a huge area with a pond, small waterfall, gazebo, floral garden - even a zip cord over the water!
You didn't say how much time you needed for the turn around but I would suggest that you announce to the guests to remain at the ceremony for a group picture and have the photographer stall for the group picture for the needed time.
