     table decorations

My question is about decorating round tables. I will have 10 tables seating 8 each. They will have ivory table cloths. 5 will have flower arrangements in the center and 5 will have candleabras. I was wondering about using table runners to add some color to the ivory, but am unsure about how that would look on round tables. I've seen some people place an opened napkin in the center and place the centerpiece on that, and while I don't mind it, it does look like opened napkins laying on the table under the centerpiece and I was hoping for something a little more . . . je ne sais quois. Elegant? Edgy? I'm just not sure. My colors are sage green, light pink, and ivory. Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated. I'm loving this site. :)

Linens can do amazing things for the elegant wow factor. If you are having a sit down formal reception and the tables will be set with silverwear, stemwear and such, steer clear of runners and other shapes on the table. That can just be clutter. However, sheer or interesting square or round table toppers double the elegance in one quick move.

If your tables will be open for a stations type of service you can work with runners and such since you will not be competing with the dinnerwear.

Look for linen rental places. If you have an elegant affair the extra expense, (which is usually pretty reasonable) is very well earned. Good luck and sounds beautiful! (I love high and low combinations! Wink go girl!)
