wedding reception decoration colors for centerpieces

We are having a very small informal wedding at a historical inn. The room where we will have our reception dinner is already beautifully decorated, so our only decorations will be our centerpieces. The room is decorated in burgundy and rich green, with dark panelled walls except for the picture windows facing the river. My bridal party will be wearing black. I have no idea what colors to use for the centerpieces or my bouquet, any advice will be very much appreciated!

Hello,

As for what you should use for your centerpieces, part of that depends on what the venue will allow. If you like candles and the site permits their use, then the easiest thing to do may be simply to accentuate the wonderful decor you described. Select different shapes and sizes of browns, yellows, reds, and maybe oranges, along with votive candles. Arrange 3 or 4 of the pillar candles on a glass mirror, set four votive candles at each corner and sprinkle the arrangement with silk petals.

Or, you could choose to have floating candles. Get a round or square glass vase, fill 1/2 way with water, add a candle and light it. Floating flowers work the same way except you don't light them. But you can set the votive candles around the flowers.

Regarding your bouquet, the color of the arrangement could be vibrant yellow calla lillies, bold red roses, deep burnt orange and yellow peonies, the list is endless and you can have a lot of fun with this.

I hope this helps,

WinkSlySmileHello...Well it sounds like a beautiful place. I love burgundy as a decor color...always rich and yummy...Depending on the time of year I think stay in the same color tones and make a really classy statement. If it is winter or late fall the deep red rose called black magic would be georgeous. If roses aren't necessarily your thing take a look at the stargazer lilies, rustic pink spray roses, burnished pink lisianthus(super soft) and fall blushed p.g. hydrangeas. Other goodies to check out are hypericum berries or a neat foilage flower called leucadendron. A rich mix of all these elements in shades of ivory, burgundy and pinks would be stunning.
These days there are a lot of really nice ceramic pedistal containers available for easy money and they look very appropriate in a traditional setting. Since they are lifted slightly off the table, surrounding them with several simple votive candles will sort of up light them. This creates a fabulous ambiance as well as nice light for your guests.
Check out the flowers I have mentioned and if possible go to a good flower shop and look at them in the "flesh" (or whatever is the floral equivalent of flesh!Crazy)
Obtain your reaction...Your opinion matters a lot...This is your wedding day and you get to indulge here a little....Enjoy and have a beautiful day and future with your new husband!!!!

I'm thinking of using a mirror with a vase and 2 votives, a single white rose in each vase with some burgundy baby's breath. The votives will be white, maybe unfold a burgundy napkin and place it underneath the mirror and scatter some silver confetti on the napkin. How do you think this will look?
