     Bride & Groom Speech?

Do the bride and groom typically have to address the reception guests with a speech?

Having speeches and speakers at your wedding is not required, but it's a great chance for the Best Man and Maid of Honor to say a few words in celebration of everything you (the Bride and Groom) mean to them and to wish you every possible happiness in your future.

The Father of the Bride might also take the opportunity to do the same.

It is not expected that the Bride and Groom themselves give a speech, but if you are hosting the event yourselves, or you didn't write your own vows but want to express to the Groom in your own words what he means to you, then you should seriously consider speaking.

And, it is always in good taste for someone to thank your guests for sharing this time with you.
