Hi, I always thought or saw in movies that the father of the bride and the best man are the only two that give a speech/toast. My maid of honor insists that she is going to give a speech but I feel that it's just because her ex-boyfriend, who is the best man, gets to give a speech. Does it matter?

Re: [Sarah in Pueblo] Do bridesmaids give speeches?

Dear Sarah,
If speeches are given, we allow the best man to begin. The fathers follow with the father of the bride first. Then anyone can offer a speech. But, this is only a guide line. We want to be polite and allow parents their option to be near the first to offer their two cents though.
