I've been to a few weddings where the MC has been a DJ but this doesn't seem very personalized. Is there any etiquette here? Will anyone be offended if I ask a family member or a friend? I'd like to keep it lighthearted and fun. Could my dad do it as well as be the father of the bride or maybe the grooms father? Thanks

Re: [brooklyn] who to choose as an MC

There is no etiquette regarding who performs the MC duities.
I don't think your DJ would be offended but your family members may not have the expertise or feel comfortable in front of a crowd. Plus, they may not want to focus on this task which might take away from their enjoyment of being a part of the wedding audience. Discuss this with the person you choose, and your DJ and if you decide you want to have your familky member MC try to do only a small part of the duties and leave most of it to the DJ. You, your friends and family will want to get the full enjoyment out of the day....it goes by so quickly. Re: [brooklyn] Father of the bride as the wedding MC

Dear Brooklyn:
No there isn't any etiquette regarding who should MC the reception. However, it should be someone who has a jovial personality and can follow the reception itinerary while gauging the crowd to keep their interest during the festivities. Rhonda Allen, Bridal Consultant New Beginnings Weddings
