I might sound like a rebel...or why am I thinking about getting married anyway, right?
I don't mind going to weddings, I enjoy the music, dancing and chatting with people, but speeches no way!
I certainly need to avoid any speech at my wedding, just get married (with non religious vows) and that's it. Am I crazy?
Thanks.

Dear Why,
You are not crazy, just particular. You can have any components included in your reception you want as long as you are paying for it. When parents pay, they often want all of the trimmings. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Follow your heart.
My favorite weddings have been those where the couple took great care and thought with every aspect so that it completely reflected who they were.
Doing things only for the sake of conformity is the wrong motivation. However, to please your family and friends without sacrificing yourself is okay too. Your wedding is also a major rite of passage for your parents, and if they are footing the bill, they have a say.
