Antique engagement ring as wedding band

Hi,
I am a pretty non-traditional kinda girl, and I always told my fiance that I did not want an engagement ring and the down-on-the-knee and all that, which I don't. (And I really don't like any modern engagement rings I've seen.)
However, we decided to go with antique (1930s) wedding bands and have been shopping online for them. We found his (hard to do cause there aren't a lot of old men's wedding bands around in good shape) and it's beautiful! It's white gold with a carved wheat pattern.
But as we shop for mine, I find I'm torn between a simple carved white gold band (like my fiance has) or an art deco fililgree ring with a small diamond set in the center. The filligree rings like I've described are always in the engagment ring category.
I don't want two rings, and I don't like the whole idea of him buying me an engagement ring!
But, if I decided I liked the filligree and diamond, would it be appropriate to use an antique engagement ring as my wedding band?
Thanks a lot!
Allie

Dear Allie,

The rings do not need to match. I believe that we should have the rings that we want. After all, hopefully we will be wearing these for a very long time. So, get the ring you want.

Best wishes,

Hi,
Thanks so much for your answer!
One more question ... it's not so much that I thought our rings needed to match is, I wonder if I choose an antique engagement ring as my wedding band, will people know I'm married when they look at my ring, since it's not exactly a band? I mean, it doesn't look like today's diamond solitaires or anything, but it had a single diamond in the center of some filigree work.
Thanks!

It doesn't really matter, does it? It may not look exactly like a wedding ring, but you will be wearing it on the traditional finger. Plus, you will be behaving as a married woman.

Don't worry about it. You can wear any type of ring you wish and in any style. It is your behavior or actions that states that you are married, not the ring anyway.

Best wishes,
