My fiance recently purchased an engagement ring from someone we came in contact with via the internet. The ring was verified as genuine and came with appraisal papers and the full deal. The ring is too small, and when I took it to a jeweler to be resized he refused saying the stone was soldered to the band and any attempts to resize the ring may break the band. Since the ring was purchased out of state I can't take it to the original jeweler and I've been unable to contact the seller. The ring is beautiful and I'm reluctant to return it (If the seller will even take it back). Should I try taking it to another jeweler?

Sizing can be a difficult thing on these type of rings, unfortunately. Your best option is to first try another local jeweler to see if they will re-size it for you.
Really though, when purchasing expensive jewelry online, you should work with only reputable online companies who back up their ring with a return or exchange policy. Any reputable internet jeweler will give you at least a 30 day return or exchange on the item.
I would try contacting the jeweler you purchased from and seeing if you can have them size it.
For example, at our online store, we offer a 45 day return/exchange on any item purchased, no questions asked. The jeweler you purchased from should have a similar policy in place, or you should not be doing business with them, whether they are online, out of state, or local.
A local jeweler's reluctance may also be due to the fact that if they make a mistake, they are now liable for damages to your ring. In wanting to provide a service that may cost you $25-$50, they are risking damaging the ring and having to you pay you thousands of dollars for your ring.
