     Engagement ring etiquette

My son wants to propose to his girlfriend this summer. Her mother has given him a ring that belonged to her grandmother, which he intends to give her as her engagement ring. I told him that I don't think he should use her own ring as an engagement ring. What do you think?

Dear Heritage Ring,

Yes, it is fine. Quite often a heritage ring is given and used.

Best wishes,
