Are there any rules on using family diamonds in your engagement ring? My grandmother passed away several years ago and she left me her wedding ring. My boyfriend and I have been looking at engagement rings and we are planning on using the diamond I inherited because it would be even more special to me. I was just wondering if this was considered okay since it was actually already my diamond? My boyfriend is still going to pay to have it mounted and buy the mounting and the band. Please let me know your thoughts on the subject.

It is a wonderful idea, and a sentimental expression of your love for your relative. Using an inherited diamond has been a popular concept for years. Consider yourself very fortunate to have such a fine wedding present from your deceased relative. good luck and enjoy your day! Jerry .Wedding Vow Rings Jerry Biern http://www.weddingvowrings.com

Oh what a sweet idea. I think its great.
My stepdad has offered by mother's engagement ring (she died almost two years ago) for the same thing. I'm not sure if I can do it just yet. Fellow Bride

My husband died when my children were babies and I told my oldest son that I will give him my engagement ring that his father gave to me. He loved the idea. Hopefully, he'll ask someone to marry him that I really love too! Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
