My boyfriend and I have been dating now for 3 years. We have been talking about getting married for a long time. He has not yet officially proprosed, but we have talked about having the wedding this summer. I really want a ring, but he doesn't seem to want to get one. He keeps jokingly asking me " so when are you going to ask me?" I'm a very traditional kind of girl and I think the guy should still do the asking and buy the ring. If we are getting married this summer, don't we need to be officially engaged first? It's going to take alot of planning, and so I'd like to have the ring before I start making huge plans! How can I convince him I really want a ring without sounding pushy???
Sounds like the two of you need to talk, really talk. Take him out for dinner to a spot where you're sure you won't have much distraction and tell him how you feel. Ask him to be honest with you regarding his intentions. Discuss whether you are both ready and only when the two of you are sure you want to be married should you be planning anything.
Both of you should be mature enough to have this discussion and it will make for a good barometer for your wedding "readiness". Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
