     Matching Wedding Bands

UnsureMy brother and his girlfriend are planning a wedding (small and inexpensive). My brother already spent the money for a promise ring 2 years ago and I know they're both struggling. So I told them that I will buy their wedding rings for them as MY wedding gift. My brother also wants diamonds on his ring since she gets diamonds. My mom and I will split the cost and we found a band w/ engagement ring for my future sister in-law. We also found a ring that my brother likes. The only thing is, the bands aren't matching. Does the bride and groom bands have to exactly match? My mom said the groom is normally different when the bride gets the engagement/wedding set. They both like the rings, but they don't match. Help!

Dear Confused,

Rest easy. They never have to match. It is always optional.

Best wishes,
