I decided to be untraditional & bought a ring for my boyfriend & proposed. We decided to make a formal announcement when he proposed to me. Recently he has taken me to pick out a ring which costs $4700. He wanted to pay cash for it. I heard you should buy jewelry with a credit card, check, bank card because there is a record oif the transaction versus if you pay cash their really is no record of transaction besides the receipt the jeweler gives you. I've asked around & no really knows, so I was wondering if you can help me before he pays for this ring. Thank you, it is greatly appreciated.

I think what you might be referring to is the notion that making a purchase with a credit card gives you the option of disputing the charge. If you make the purchase with a reputable jeweler there should be no reason you cannot pay cash but if you want to be sure you have your own record then certainly use a check or credit card.
