     Promise Rings

I'm just wondering which finger I would wear a promise ring my boyfriend gives me? I thought your right ring finger but my mom thinks it is your left ring finger. I don't want people to think I am engaged, just that I am committed to someone. What do you think?

It’s really a matter of personal preference, however the finger and hand you choose can depend entirely on the type of ring and type of pledge. For example, an Irish Claddagh ring can have several meanings depending on the way it is-

left hand = promise of love. monogamy.

right hand with the heart facing out = heart is free.

right hand with the heart turned in = heart is taken.

If the pledge is pre-engagement then wear the ring on the left hand ring finger. Then switch the ring to their right hand when you get the engagement ring. You may also choose to waer the promise ring on the left hand ring finger as a sign of fidelity.
