     Sapphire Engagement Ring?

I have been looking at a White Sapphire as the gem in an engagement ring. From an experts opinion how appropriate is this? I am selecting this stone that while it looks traditional, it is something a little different. While saving some cash is nice, that is not the reason for going down this road. Just think a diamond is a little played out. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Dear Likes the Sapphire,

While not a gem expert, it is entirely appropriate to use any stone in your rings. The diamond is typically used because it symbolizes strength and endurance--as if it will last forever, like the couple's love.

Best wishes,
