I am sure this isn’t a new position that I am in, so I am hoping to get some good feedback from everyone.
I am starting to look at engagement rings and become more educated as to what I like. At the same time I am learning with my girlfriend likes. It is a fun and confusing process, but I am hitting one major stumbling block, budget.
The root of my problem is she make a good deal more than I do. How should I establish a price range for something she would be proud to have? Should my choice for profession, cost of education (time and money), and entry-level professional salary dictate the price of an engagement ring?
Any comments or ideas?

Re: [just wondering] engagement ring budget???

Dear Just Wondering,
There are many 'rules' to how much a person should spend on a ring, but these are usually decided by those who sell rings. I believe that people should buy the ring they want with the stones they can afford.
Decide how much you can reasonably afford and tell your fiance that this is your limit. My husband and I pooled our assests well before the wedding and paid for everything up front. So, I got the ring I wanted because we bought it together. Perhaps your fiancee will feel the same and want to pad your amount to receive the ring she wants.
