Okay, I have two questions about my engagement ring. My fiance had it made for me in February. Now, we didn't notice until recently that there is a huge flaw in it, which you can clearly see. (Don't know why we missed it in the first place.) I was wondering if we got ripped off, in a way; that maybe he didn't get what he paid for.
My second question is: since we're both unhappy with this discovery, we both decided it might be best to look for a *better* stone to put in the exhisting setting. Well, we went and looked on Friday and found a radiant cut (which is a little bit more than current stone price-wise, but still a half carat, like the current stone). The stone I have is a princess-cut. Will a radiant fit in this setting, or will we have to purchase a whole new setting? (It would save money to keep this setting.)
I'm hoping I get some good answers here.

I suggest you have the ring appraised and then take it back to where you originally purchased it. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

My fiance paid $853 total for the ring, that included stone price (it was a loose stone) and a seperate price for the setting it was to go in.
It is a small-town local jewelry store and I'm sure all he (the ower) would do would give us the total amount back. But we were thinking that since this is where the ring was purchased, we could just do a stone trade-in and pay the difference for the new (and unflawed stone). What I was really wondering was can a radiant-cut fit in a princess-cut setting, or will a new setting have to be purchased also?

This would be a question for your jeweler, sorry. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
