     family engagement ring

I am the mom of the bride to be. I have an heirloom diamond ring which I would love to give to my daughter's fiance to use as he wishes for an engagement ring for my daughter. (use the diamond in another mounting or as is..their choice) Would it be inappropriate for me to offer it to him?

Dear Mom,

It may be best to offer it to both of them, because she may not want it and it is her decision as well.

Best wishes,
