groom wants to spend more on his wedding band than on bride's
My fiance and I have just started looking at wedding bands, and already we're having trouble. We have a very strict budget, but not an unreasonable one. We had originally decided to stay around $500 for both. $300 for mine, and $200 for his since men's rings tend to be cheaper and simpler. However, when we went looking he fell in love with a ring that cost over $1000! When I reminded him of our budget he found one that he could settle for for $400. Only leaving $100 in our budget for my ring. He isn't willing to spend more than that on mine either. His justification is that since my engagement ring has diamonds, I should be happy with just a plain cheap band. This comment really hurt my feelings and he and I haven't spoken since this conversation. Am I being unreasonable to expect a wedding bad equally as nice as his?

This is just one of many, many issues the two of you will have to work out along the way to becoming a married couple and during your married life. Don't clam up now. Sit down together and discuss your feelings about these rings and what they mean to you both. Decide together what's fair and best. This is terrific practice for married life. I couldn't agree more. And, this could be a huge wake up call about how he views finances and your future budget. It appears that the one thing couples tend to argue about is money. So, it is best to make sure both of you feel the same way about budgeting. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
