     his and her engagement rings

I have reviewed a few threads regarding his and her engagement rings , seems it is not a very common practice for him to have an engagement ring , My boyfriend was delighted when I said I wanted him to have a ring , and made me cry when he said it would be a symbol of our love and commitment until the wedding day , we are planning on going as a couple to purchase our wedding bands.

My question is this , which hand does he wear the engagement ring , he said left , then move it to his right upon marriage (same as his farther did when married) is this proper , we just wanna double check?

Dear Engaged,

It really doesn't matter since there are no rules for this. But, his idea makes sense to me. A ring on our left hand means commitment.

Best wishes,
