     man's engagement ring

I proposed to him and now we both have engagement rings. Do I get him another ring for the wedding or what? How about getting the inside of the ring inscribed with our wedding date?

Yes, in addition to your man's engagement ring, you would both get wedding bands which you will exchange during the ceremony. Having the bands inscribed would be very sweet.

I was thinking that we could both use our engagement rings as wedding bands and have the date of our wedding inscribed on them to make it more special.

There really is nothing wrong with this. Having them inscribed and then putting them on for the first time since the inscription makes this even more special.

Right, but then the rings should not be worn until they are exchanged at the ceremony.
