My fiance and I don't have much money to spend on jewelry, and it's generally not too important to me. He gave me a pearl engagement ring, silver. It's very pretty and it definitely suits me as a nice ring, but as an engagement ring I would like to wear my grandmother's diamond--mostly for sentimental reasons, but also because I find I would like something a little fancier, since it's for the rest of my life. How can I approach this with my fiance? Would it even be appropriate? and perhaps I could wear the pearl ring on my right hand (because it is special to me), and grandma's on my left?
Thanks so much for the advice. I talked to my fiance, and he actually thinks me wearing my grandmother's ring is a great idea. We save money on a wedding band, and also it's a way to include my grandmother in the ceremony and our lives together. Actually, he now wants his band to match mine. Thanks again.
