I was wondering..... I have heard that after your first year of marrage that your bands switch. the plain gold band goes closer to your heart and the diamond goes on the outside of the plain gold band. is this true? if not how does it go?

Dear Bnbpearson,

The wedding ring should be placed closest to your heart at the wedding. There is no one year switch. It does sound familiar though. This could have been a regional or ethnic tradition in the past.

Best wishes,
