Decorating a gazebo for a wedding.

I was wondering if you have any ideas on decorating a gazebo. I'm getting married at a golf club in PA; the wedding will be outside in front of a gazebo and the event coordinator said that we (the wedding party/parents/groom & me)get to decorate the gazebo. I've heard about using tulle, and honestly i think as a decoration, it's one of the worst. The color scheme of the wedding will be purple, I'm not sure what shade of purple, but won't any purple flower be okay for decorating? Any ideas on what to do??

Dear Punkchic,
Ideas for decorating your gazebo can be found in any of the wedding magazines. You can do something as simple as hanging baskets of purple flowers to lights and foliage. What you want to remember is that what you put up you have to take down. If you are using a florist ask them for suggestions. Most likely your local florists have done exactly what you are asking for at the same location. Use their creativity.

]I would talk to your florist. A flowered swag over the top and pair of arrangements on the two side rails looks great. You could also order a garland and tuck in flowers around the top or any of a dozen combinations. This is your ceremony site and an important part of the day. Be sure it is done really well. See if the reception site has any photos or can recommend a florist to work on it. If not done well you can really ruin the look of the ceremony. If you take a look on my website under the ceremony section the first and last pictures are of a decorated gazebo. My best honest suggestion is to leave it to a professional or be really sure you can make it look great.

If you're on a budget, consider silk flowers and silk ivy such as purple hydrangea or wysteria (looks like hanging grape clusters) They are beautiful, look real, and can be used later for decorating in your house or your gazebo at home in the yard. Silk flowers can be placed ahead of time, like the day before or the morning of and do not suffer as much from lack of water, heat or wind.
