Hello.

I am having two (just turned) 2 years old for my flowergirls and my ring bearer is 5 years old. Is this an appropriate age for a flowergirl? I am worried that they won't walk down the aisle and drop the petals like I want them to. Would it be okay if I had someone else, like a cousin (7) walk with them down the aisle or could I have the ring bearer walk with them?

2 is a little young and it definitely depends on the child and her personality. Even a 5 or 7 year old may not perform as you want him to on the day of the wedding. The only thing you can be certain of is that children can be unpredictable. If you're all right with that, great. But, if you need perfection this might be a problem. It may or may not be helpful to have an older child walk along.

My suggestion would be, if you want them to be in the wedding, ask the parents to rehearse them as much as possible and hope for the best. Then, if the 2 year old runs for the hills when she gets a look at the crowd or the 5 year old stops mid-aisle to pick his nose, get it all on tape, and have a humorous segway to your entrance. [:)]

I couldn't agree more.

Half way up the aisle at my sister's wedding (I was her MOH) my three 1/2 year old daughter jumped down to the ground, dove under my dress and grabbed my ankle with both little arms. I ended up dragging her a few steps until we reached Grandma who quickly picked her up. Everyone laughs about it still, except my daughter who is now 35 and just rolls her eyes.
