My groom loves the look of the classic 1950's white dinner jacket. We are getting married at 6:30 in August in South Louisiana. If he wears a white dinner jacket, must all the groomsmen wear that too? I'm worried it will be a whole lot of white at the front of the church. What does protocol say about the groom wearing a different tuxedo than the groomsmen?

Dear Lguidry,

The groom may be dressed just a bit differently by wearing a slightly different jacket or a different colored tie (or vest). But, he really should wear the same color jacket as the rest of his groomsmen. Perhaps all of them could wear ivory.

Best wishes,
