My husband and I got married (an in-town elopement) at the end of 2008. Because it was in my friends living room I wore an informal non-wedding dress. I have a full length ivory (no train) dress which I would like to wear for a reception this summer. No veil of course. Is this okay? Additionally I saw a posting from dadaelon where she was to have a post-elopement renew of her vows 2 months later for close family members. I would like to do the same and then have a larger reception following. We would exclude all the usual wedding activities at the reception. I am asking again because in another post " vow renewals" was not okay so soon after the wedding. Thank you in advance for your patience and help on this!

Dear Susancog,

I know the vow renewal issue is confusing. And, in that particular post, I really didn't catch the 2 month vow renewal element. Actually, I was addressing the reception issue. So, that is my mistake. All other posts you find will restate that the vow renewal is not a ceremony to pretend to marry your husband again so others can play a part in it. And, this is what you would be hosting.

It is best to host the reception only. And, the dress would not be appropriate as you didn't wear it for your wedding and too much time has passed since your wedding.

Best wishes,
