We would like to get married in a beach house overlooking the ocean with a few friends and family present (about 40). Our plan is to host a 'cocktail' hour before the ceremony, get married in the living room or on the deck, and then take everyone to a nice dinner reception. We want to make this very special for our guests, so do you have any suggestions about guest attire colors, the ceremony, or anything that would make this more intimate and special?

For a more intimate experience perhaps consider hosting the dinner at the beach house for total privacy. I'd suggest a wedding sand ceremony that's great for beach weddings. Otherwise, all of your plans sound wonderful.

I agree. If guests didn't have to leave, they might be more comfortable.
It sounds like you already know this, but just in case...Please note that if you invite your guests to dinner at the restaurant, you are expected to pay.
