Gifts for bridesmaids at the shower

I was recently to a bridal shower and the bridesmaids and maid of honor had a gift waiting for them at their table. A friend of mine says that it would be nice to give a little something special to the bridesmaids. What do you think?

While it is nice to thank the shower hosts (usually the bridesmaids) it is best to send the gift to them or hand deliver it after the shower.
